HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department took off in 1995 at the inception of the College with the following staff:

(i)        Mr. I. E. Babalola as the Head of Department.

(ii)       Mr. A. F. Adekoya as the Lecturer  / Department Secretary.

In the year 1996, Mr. O. F. Oladipupo joined the department as a Lecturer and Mrs. E. T. Alagbala as a Technologist.

In January 1997, the Computer Laboratory was established with two personal computer systems and two Epson line-printers. In the same year, the department was given partial accreditation. All the staff were sponsored to conferences and workshops, Mr. Oladipupo, O. F. Was promoted to Lecturer II.

In 1998, four computer systems with three Deskjet 1120 printers were added to the existing ones in the computer laboratory. Mr. A. A. Akegbesola joined the department in November 1998. Miss Fagbohun (a youth corper) was also deployed to the department in September 1998. The department was granted full accreditation to run NCE programme in Computer Science in the same year. All the staff were sponsored to conferences and workshops. The Certificate and Diploma programmes for LACOPED Consult commenced. Mr. Adekoya was promoted to Lecturer III. During the year under review, the first set of NCE, students (13) graduated.

In 1999, Miss B. O. Fagbohun successfully completed  her NYSC programme. The LACOPED Consult professional programmes in Certificate in Computer Operations and Diploma in Computer Studies for the set was successfully completed. Mr. Adekoya, A. F. was elected as member of Academic Board in January 1999. In the same year the second set of NCE students (8) also graduated.

In 2000, Mr. Aiyegbusi, A. E. joined the department and Mr. Babalola became the Dean, School of Preliminary Studies in addition to his position as the Head of the Department. Mrs Toyin Adeyemi joined the department as a Computer Operator. The third set of NCE students (14) also graduated.

In August 2001, Mr. O. F. Oladipupo became the coordinator of the department. In September 2001, two lecturers Mr. O. F. Oladipupo and Mr. A. F. Adekoya attended a workshop on train the trainer for Science and Mathematics Educators in Colleges of Education organised by NCCE and Nigeria UNESCO cooperation.

In June 2002, Mr. F. T. Benedict joined the department as an Assistant Lecturer. The total number of staff in the department as at June 2002, are eight (8). In 2004, Miss Ikuomola and Mr. Iposu, N. O. joined the department.

In 2007, Mr. Dawodu, A. O. and Mr. Gbadebo, A. D. joined the department as  Lecturers and Mrs Abimbola, G. O. as a Computer Officer. Also, Mrs Ogunwale, Y. E. was given sabbatical appointment by the College.

In 2010, Mrs Abimbola, O. G., Mrs Adeyemi, T. S., Miss Tijani, F. Y. and Mrs Kehinde, E. O. were appointed as Assistant Lecturers.

In 2011, Mr. Adeleye, A. O. and Mr. Ajiboye, A. S. joined the department as Computer Officers.

All the departmental lecturers have been attending various workshops, conferences and seminars within and outside Nigeria.
